About Us
Fusion Advisory services was formed in October of 2023 by Dr Melanie Windridge and Dr. Simon Woodruff, two key leaders in the fusion energy space. The company mission is to empower informed decision making in fusion technology. Within this mission, we provide three main services: due diligence reporting, technology assessments, and market and competitive analysis. We have experience working with governments, investors, fusion companies, research organisations, and companies outside of fusion seeking information on the sector.
Our Team

Dr. Melanie Windridge
Director
Dr. Melanie Windridge draws on extensive experience in plasma physics and science communication to demystify fusion energy for individuals and organisations. Her path from her PhD work in academia to roles at Tokamak Energy and the Fusion Industry Association has given her a comprehensive view of the fusion sector. Melanie envisions a future where fusion plays a major role in sustainable energy and is committed to supporting the growth of the emerging fusion business ecosystem. Alongside her work with FAS, she is the founder and CEO of Fusion Energy Insights, helping stakeholders understand industry progress and commercialisation pathways, and a co-founder of FusionX Group, which connects capital with opportunities in the fusion industry. She holds a PhD in plasma physics from Imperial College London and serves on the advisory boards of the UK Fusion Cluster, London GreenCity, and Energy for the Common Good. She was previously UK Director of the Fusion Industry Association and was elected a Fellow of the Clean Growth Leadership Network in 2022. Melanie is also an author and adventurer, promoting scientific exploration through writing, media, and mountaineering; her books include Aurora: In Search of the Northern Lights and Star Chambers: The Race for Fusion Power.

Dr. Naomi Mburu
Lead Analyst
Dr. Naomi Mburu completed her DPhil in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Her doctoral research focused on liquid metal plasma facing components for fusion applications, in collaboration with Tokamak Energy. As lead analyst at FAS, she evaluates fusion technologies, market positions, and technical claims with a focus on translating complex engineering challenges into clear, decision-ready insights for clients. She has an interdisciplinary background, with experience working at CERN characterising various gas mixtures used in the Large Hadron Collider, at Intel developing should-cost models, at Vanderbilt University developing 3D-printed artery models, and at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) developing biosensors. Passionate about teaching and community engagement, Naomi has designed and taught courses on fusion in the UK and in Saudi Arabia, organised over 12 conferences for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK) and National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and is on the Education and Scholarship Committee for the Nuclear Society of Kenya.

Kruti Fayot
Business Development Associate
Mrs Kruti Mawani Fayot is currently the Operations Lead and Business Development Associate at FEI and FAS. She draws on a diverse professional background that she now brings into the fusion industry. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Management from Singapore and a Master’s in International Relations from Spain. Her master’s thesis focused on The Role of Soft Power in the Development of the Fusion Industry. She entered into the fusion industry in 2021 as a Communications Consultant at ITER as the host and producer of The ITER Podcast, and supports the team in various roles throughout. Her diverse experiences range from being a marketing and operations coordinator for an art fair in Singapore, running a bespoke fine jewelry business in Bangkok to founding a local association in Provence. However, it is fusion energy that is her North Star, a field she believes can help humanity build a more sustainable future. She brings an energetic, positive drive and a commitment to using her skills to support the path toward fusion commercialisation.

Ms. Evie Barker
Research and Development Lead
Ms. Evie Barker holds a BSc in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of York and an MSc by Research from the University of Manchester with distinction, modelling gamma-ray irradiation in compact binaries. As Research and Development Lead at Fusion Advisory Services, she leads Artificial Intelligence front developing software and AI tools to accelerate fusion analysis, reporting, and design workflows. Previously, at nTtau Digital LTD, she developed machine learning models to optimise reactor geometries. Her expertise lies in artificial intelligence and computational methods, with a particular focus on applying machine learning and numerical simulation to accelerate fusion reactor design and commercialisation. She currntly serves as the vice chairperson for the European Fusion Association’s AI working group.

Mr. Buddy Alcock
Junior Analyst
Mr. Buddy Alcock holds a BSc in Physics with First Class Honours from the University of York. Having worked previously at HSBC in cybersecurity, and he is currently completing an MSc in Fusion Energy at the University of York. He now works for Fusion Advisory Services as an analyst, applying his analytical skills to fusion technology analysis and costing assessment.

Ms. Sara Valentina Hock
Intern
Ms. Sara Valentina Hock holds an MSc in Environmental Technology with Distinction from Imperial College London, where she specialised in energy policy. She believes strongly in the value of interdisciplinary thinking, a perspective shaped by her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Maastricht University, where she completed a double concentration in the social sciences and natural sciences. At Fusion Advisory Services, Sara supports research efforts across fusion industry developments, market analysis, and the evolving regulatory and policy landscape

Mr. Thomas Rainford
Junior Analyst and Technical Illustrator
Thomas Rainford holds a Masters of Physics (MPhys) in applied physics and system modelling from Durham University. Driven by a mission to advance clean, affordable, and equitable energy solutions, Thomas combines his academic foundation in applied physics and cosmology with hands-on industry experience.
